About The Author

OHAI!

My name is Kryssie and I'm currently a PhD student in the field of Industrial/Organizational Psychology.  My area of specialization is corporate training.  So, here's a bit of how I got to that point and a little of what this blog is about.

I have a B.S. degree in secondary education with a specialization in Platform Arts (which is public speaking, oral interpretation, and theatre--all of which are very useful in the business world).  I graduated with this degree in 1999 and promptly chose not to actually use it for anything.  I started working in a Science Center as an actor doing scripted science demonstrations, then went to work as an actor doing historical tours of Hershey, PA (not actually the place name, but if I said, "Derry Church," no one would have a clue).  I then decided to pursue acting and moved to California, thinking that Hollywood actually hired actors based on talent.

Pro Tip: They don't.

So, I started working as a temp, and eventually, as a recruiter.  I got married, then quit the recruiting gig to use my BS degree as a teacher.  That was possibly the worst year of my life.  I swore off teaching children (I don't know why I thought it would be fun; I don't like kids!)  But, it was during the second half of that year that I discovered a game called City of Heroes (R.I.P.) and a community centered on a radio station called The Cape.  Through that group, I met a gal we'll call Pyrria who decided to start working on an MBA.  I'd always wanted a Master's degree and, eventually, a Doctorate so I could be a Doctor like THE Doctor.  So, in January 2010, I started an MABC program--Master of Arts in Business Communication.  I graduated December 2012, with highest honors and started my doctoral work September 2013.  I am, currently, 1/3 of the way through my program and have a projected grad date of July 2017.  As long as I graduate before December 25, 2017, I will have attained my arbitrary goal of having a PhD by the time I'm 40.

So, that is sorta how I got here.  All my education is related in that my foundation in education and speech allows me to really understand how businesses should communicate with their audiences.  Not every piece of information for every business out there should be formal.  Some companies should be irreverent in their information simply because it is expected of the brand or the audience.

I could go into my ideas for my dissertation, but I don't want to bore you too much.  I will say, however, it does involve RPGs and team building exercises.

Oh, and I still broadcast on The Cape.  You can listen to me most Friday nights from 9pm-Midnight, ET (6pm-9pm, PT).
